A monstrous fish of unknown origins that has the overall appearance and characteristics of a Sphyraena barracuda, but it is substantially larger. The barracudas that travel with the monster fish appear to be the original species of barracuda but are closer to normal proportions, growing to be about five feet long. Comparing them to the monster fish, the Barracuda lionfish would be roughly forty feet long, or about the size of a Greyhound bus. The ventral fins when presented in an aggression display clearly show the lionfish genetics.
Description[]
A long, sleek fish, with a streamlined body, this monster is clearly the predator the original species is. Colored dark gray on the head, gills and along the spine, the underside is silvery with random dark spots to break up the outline, as a jaguar or cheetah's spots do for them. Unlike the origin species, Sphyraena barracuda, known as the Great barracuda,[1] this fish is over forty feet long. One other significant difference is the dorsal fins. Colored in a red-and-gray striped pattern, the fins spread out into a 'mane' when the fish becomes agitated or feels threatened, in a fashion normally associated with the lionfish species, Pterois volitans, known as the red lionfish.[2] Andreafishy confirms the lionfish heritage in a reply to a comment on an Instagram update.[3]

History[]
Pezci and Scypho are running from the police after having stolen a watercar from a fuel station. They reach a point where they have to abandon the 'car because it runs out of fuel. Swimming now, they swim out into the open ocean after sighting an apparently abandoned submarine resting on the seafloor, and they are immediately spotted by the police. The pursuit is cut off just as quickly, at around the same time as a massive shadows looms over the pair. Pezci spots the reason first, calling Scypho by the name Scy, and she indicates with her eyes what she sees. Scypho gets a laugh out of it chasing away their police escort, then he tries to reassure her it hadn't seen them yet. Unable to contain her terror of the sight of the beast, hysteria takes her and she wails out her fear.[4]
Up to that point they had been safe, but now the creature turns to them with a roar, the tag-along barracudas turning with it, and that shuts down Pezci's hysterics immediately. After chastising her for the untimely scream, Scypho takes them to the submarine with the monster close on their heels. He fruitlessly tells her to look for a door or window to break in through, prompting another whimpering complaint about criminal acts. While she engages in hysterics on the top deck of the submarine, Scypho uses the Mirror to pry open a hatch. The initial indrafts of water drag Pezci into the sub. Scypho dives in just ahead of the monster's jaws, but it manages to grasp the Mirror and take it away. Several of the normal barracudas get in with them, causing Scypho to have to find sanctuary, which he does, locking the posse outside the small room he's found.[4] Shin discovers the giant barracuda's head that has invaded his submarine after he captures and imprisons Pezci and Scypho, alerted by his security system.[5]
Shortly after, Shin leads Pezci and Scypho in a hunt to slay the monster. All of the monster's posse of barracudas are killed when Pezci goes into a hysterical frenzy, and the creature itself is knocked unconscious for a short time by her final spear. The monster wakes up just in time to prevent Scypho from removing the Mirror from its mouth, and it breaks free from the Terminarch's hull and swims off.[6] Determined that he is not going to let the giant barracuda escape him, Shin goes out and challenges it, telling it to come back and fight like a predator. It gets the tone if not the words, and it turns to roar at him. The monster fish swoops in to engage Shin in battle, but suddenly feels something is going wrong. First there's a gurgling, then it gags, then it finally regurgitates the Mirror. The Mirror attaches itself to Shin and drags him off to get stuck on a hatch cover. Having had enough, the giant barracuda hisses at the group, then it turns tail and swims away.[7]
